Bone density, also known as DEXA or bone densiometry, does require an appointment, as well as a physican order. Bone Density testing is a simple and painless exam that measures bone strength and its ability to bear weight. By measuring bone density it is possible to predict your risk for a potential fracture. A bone density test is one of the more accurate ways to diagnose osteoporosis in its early stages and to monitor any changes.
